A seller’s ad on Amazon is often a “get out of jail free” card for consumers looking to buy an appliance.
But this time, it’s the opposite.
Amazon has banned ads for a new appliance, which is being advertised on the retailer’s platform, due to concerns about potential safety concerns.
The new appliance from Jura, a Danish company, comes with a “safety feature” that alerts buyers if it is damaged.
However, this is only available for “emergency situations” such as a fire or if someone dies.
Jura said it took the issue “very seriously,” and “will be reviewing all potential safety issues with this new product.”
The company added that it “remains committed to making sure that our products are safe for consumers and will take immediate action if they pose a risk to our consumers or to our brand.”
It is unclear what safety measures Amazon will take to remove the advertisement.
However a representative for the retailer told Business Insider that it’s “extremely important” to ensure consumers are buying “safe” products.
